Tips: Peeling Garlic

Usually I take off a clove and then use the flat of my chef's knife to flatten it. The papery outer cover comes right off.

For those of you too pristine for the above method, there is an alternate trick when needing to peel all cloves from an entire head of garlic, try this easy trick.  Peel the papery skin on the outside of the head, then submerge the head in boiling water for about 1 -2  minutes.  Remove and drain.  Then cut and peel each clove.  The blanching process helps loosen the outer skin of the clove.
